Certificate Of Authority
FMCSA's operating authority is often identified as an MC, FF, or MX number, depending on the type of authority that is granted. Unlike the DOT Number, a company may need to obtain multiple operating authorities to support its planned business operations. The operating authority dictates the type of operation that a company may run and the cargo that it may carry.
Certificate Of Reinstatement
To reinstate or reactivate your operating authority (MC, FF, or MX number), you must first file your proof of insurance and Form BOC-3 (designation of process agents) with FMCSA, and have an active DOT Number with up-to-date contact information on file.
Certificate Of Re-entitlement
Any time a motor carrier or other regulated entity changes its legal business name, they should update their DOT and operating authority records with FMCSA in a timely manner. In addition, FMCSA requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information every two years.
